Become A Citizen Seismologist

A seismologist is a scientist who specializes in studying seismic activity, including earthquakes that travel through the Earth. Would you like to monitor global and local earthquakes as they happen in real time here in Ireland and become Irelands next seismologist?

If yes, you should join Quake Shake. If you are interested, please contact Laura our Community Seismology Officer at info@quakeshake.ie

Quake Shake is running using Raspberry Shake seismometers. Despite its compact size, the Raspberry Shake stands as a powerful seismograph, capable of recording earthquakes of various magnitudes. Its small form factor may be deceiving, but this device is designed to detect seismic activity ranging from subtle tremors that escape human perception to the impactful, large magnitude earthquakes that occur globally. Perfect for measuring Irish earthquakes!

You can check out a real time global map showing all live seismograph and infrasound Stations on the Raspberry Shake seismic network, with one of the most complete lists of recent earthquake activity, by clicking the links below. Owning a Raspberry Shake is not necessary.
